At Mission Heights, we believe that education is more than just acquiring knowledge—it's about taking a meaningful leap into life itself.
Mission Heights High School combines a learner-centered environment with real-world learning opportunities, emphasizing personalized education tailored to individual student needs, passions, and talents. Through internships, apprenticeships, and community projects, students experience education directly applicable to real-life situations, moving beyond a one-size-fits-all curriculum to explore their unique strengths and interests.
Incorporating Socratic discussions and a strong focus on creativity and arts, our program encourages critical thinking, open dialogue, and artistic expression. Students engage in meaningful discussions and are encouraged to experiment and express themselves creatively across various mediums, fostering an environment where learning is dynamic and mistakes are viewed as learning opportunities.
The 6 Pillars of our Character Development Curriculum are outlined on our "About" page.
With explicit attention to character development and student empowerment, our curriculum is designed to build integrity, perseverance, and a sense of responsibility. By valuing character development as highly as academic knowledge and empowering students to take charge of their learning, we prepare them to make informed decisions and understand their impact on the world.
Eschewing standardized testing for portfolios, presentations, and project-based assessments, Mission Heights evaluates student progress through continuous feedback and real-world achievements. Mentorship is a cornerstone of our approach, with each student matched with a mentor to guide, support, and reflect on their learning journey, ensuring personalized growth and achievement.
Our flexible learning spaces adapt to various educational activities, supporting collaboration, individual reflection, and hands-on projects. Coupled with a comprehensive life skills curriculum, students develop practical abilities from financial literacy to emotional intelligence, readying them for all aspects of adult life.
